[/i] A sub-segment of the pro-hero group. These people believe that justice is better served without the law's influence. These residents don't want the superheroes under control of the government, but are all for having the team there. That way if the government can't convict a murderer, these guys can. Many supporters are into using government corruption as a reason against it. Many are enthusiastic supporters of the renegade.Even before the mutations started, Redwood Heights had two main sides. There wasn't much hostility between the sides, it being a peaceful town, but they were divided. One was set against having scientists nearby their small town. They said it'd cause trouble and they'd muck up their systems. The other side didn't really much care either way or was all for the advancement of science - and they liked the new people that came to their town. Once the scientists left, Redwood Heights quickly returned to its normal, run-of-the-mill lifestyle until the scientist's experiment kicked in. After the mutations started getting noticeable, the town quickly began to split into their separate factions once more. The military's effort to contain the situation has broken up the town even more.Alliances
Look through and see where your character fits in. The basic standpoint and view of these sides is added, but obviously, it isn't the only way to see the situation.
Pro-Hero These people are all for creating teams of superheroes out of the different mutants. After all, who knows what else this has happened to? These people are mostly mutants, but there are quite a few Redwood Heights residents unaffected by the water that love the idea - especially the younger people. Pro-hero supporters see it as a great opportunity to create a world with less evil, deter terrorist attacks, and make a good example on the rest of the world. Many dislike the government's influence on the situation.
Government-Run A sub-segment that support the team of heroes to be under government control and have to follow government laws. The team can only go as far as the law will allow and have to be under government control. Supporters of the task force (explained later) are in this group.
There are many smaller groups in between, but these two segments are the two main ones.[/ul]
Anti-Hero The obvious reaction against the pro-hero supporters. Many of these people are residents, but there are the mutated residents who are against the idea of making them work for the city. People that disagree argue that it'd be dangerous to both the heroes, civilians and architecture and make the city a target for both scientific experiments and attacks. The mutated residents say that they'd become servants to the people. Others say it would make the public forever in service of the heroes, and that there would be superheroes that take advantage of that debt.
The rest of the group is very much fragmented and don't have a strong a voice. Some are afraid of having the superheroes being taken into government agencies. Others are worried about the morality of attacking people that are, by law, innocent until proven guilty.[/ul]
Neutral About Heroes This group are an even mixture of mutated residents and average residents. They all are in various mixtures of neutrality and the opinions differ far too greatly list them all. Some may lean one way or the other but don't solely support one side.[/size]
Special Task Forces
These are different groups of people both "normal" and mutated. Many of these groups have a large follower base - but very little insider-view. They tend to stay very secretive about themselves and are, therefore, hard to get into.
Task Force A military-based group of both powered and non-powered residents. The powered residents get special training in controlling and using their powers to their advantage - as many of them don't have formal training. The non-powered residents are most ex-military. The task force has stated clearly that they stand for the town's government more than the military, but no one knows for sure. People that aren't for government-run heroes are usually extremely suspicious of the closeness of the military and the task force and wary of the debt the task force may owe the army.
Renegade A group of vigilantes that make life hell for the task force and any typical military operation. The renegades also turn around and do plenty of minor good deeds around town. Any trouble around Redwood Heights, and these people are sure to start running about. Many of these are powered, but there are the few regular residents working in the group. Because much of their dealings are shady, much secrecy surrounds the group. Some hail them as the new Robin Hood and his Merry Band, and others look on in disgust at the chaos they leave behind. Their good deeds do put them in some amount of public favor. Unsurprisingly, many supporters of the renegade are teenagers.
Extreani A group (self-named) that is doing their best to turn public opinion against superpowers. Orthodox Extreani tend to create their own small, one-block sections of 'no monsters allowed' areas. Most simply ignore and don't deal with the monsters unless they have to. They don't like the military much, either, though.
